Japanese quartet Koochewsen plays music influenced by great progressive rock bands from the 1970s, like King Crimson and Pink Floyd. But the singer and guitarist Riyo also loves the melodies of 1970s Japanese folk artists like Yosui Inoue. Koochewsen has covered Inoue’s hit song “Into the Dreams.”

        Chinese Football

Chinese Football is a four-piece post-rock band based in Wuhan, China. It was formed in 2011 when vocalist Xu Bo met guitarist Wang Bo. The band’s lineup solidified when bassist Li Lixin joined in. Jia Yifei will be the drummer in their upcoming live show in Shenzhen. Chinese Football tries to keep the original tension of punk music while operating with a DIY attitude. Citing late-1990s emo pioneers like Jimmy Eat World, Get Up Kids and American Football as inspiration, Chinese Football specializes in a potent wistful guitar-bass-driven indie rock sound. Mixing catching guitar riffs with lyrics, Chinese Football is devoted to expressing the fantasy of youth and their frustration. After releasing two EPs and one full-length album and touring Japan, Chinese Football has been considered one of the most important emo rock bands in Asia.

In 2012, after signing to Fuzz Club, The Underground Youth fleshed out to a full band including Dyer’s wife and celebrated artist Olya Dyer on drums. Since then the group has been touring relentlessly, playing sold-out shows all over Europe and landing significant spots on some of Europe’s biggest psych festivals, including Levitation France, Cosmosis, Liverpool Psych Fest and Eindhoven Psych Lab.
